Scroll wheel: not tested yet

Side buttons only appear if they still send standard back and forward events. If they have been remapped to a key or a macro in the manufacturer software, they arrive as that instead.

What does Mouse Test do?

Check every mouse button, the scroll wheel and — most usefully — whether your mouse has developed a double-click fault. It measures the gap between clicks and flags any pair that arrives faster than a human hand can produce, which is the definitive sign of a worn switch.

How to Use Mouse Test

  1. 1
Click each buttonLeft, right, middle and both side buttons light up as they register.
  2. 2
Scroll both waysThe wheel indicator confirms direction and step size.
  3. 3
Watch for warningsA flagged double click means the switch is producing two events from one press.

Key Features

  • All five standard buttons, including the two side buttons
  • Double-click fault detection with the measured gap in milliseconds
  • Scroll wheel test in both directions, including horizontal scroll
  • Click counters per button so intermittent faults show up
  • Cursor position and movement readout for tracking checks

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my mouse is double clicking?

Single-click slowly and deliberately. If the test records two clicks less than about 60 ms apart, the switch is bouncing — no human can physically click twice that fast, so it is a hardware fault rather than a habit.

Can a double-click fault be fixed?

Sometimes. The usual cause is a worn contact in the switch, and cleaning it with contact cleaner or bending the tension leaf can buy months. A permanent fix means replacing the switch, or the mouse.

Why does my middle click not register?

Some browsers reserve middle click for opening links in a new tab, so it is intercepted before the page sees it. Clicking inside the test area rather than on a link avoids that.

Are side buttons always detectable?

Only if they send standard back and forward button events. Buttons remapped in the manufacturer software to a macro or keystroke appear as whatever they were remapped to, not as mouse buttons.
