Frequently Asked Questions
How are complete years counted?
By calendar. From 10 June 2000 to 9 June 2026 is 25 years, 11 months and 30 days — not yet 26, because the anniversary has not arrived.
How many leap days are in the period?
The calculator counts them exactly, applying the full Gregorian rule including the century exceptions. That is why a 25-year span is not simply 25 × 365 days.
What is a decimal year used for?
Interest calculations, service accrual and pro-rata entitlements. 25.5 years means 25 years and about six months, which is what those formulas need.
Is this the same as an age calculator?
The arithmetic is identical. The age calculator adds birthday-specific output such as the weekday you were born and the countdown to your next birthday.
Dates and times are calculated in your browser using its built-in IANA time zone database. Nothing you enter is transmitted.
