What is the difference between brightness and contrast?
Brightness shifts every pixel up or down equally, which lightens or darkens the whole image. Contrast stretches the gap between light and dark pixels, which adds punch but can clip highlights and shadows.
Can I recover a very dark photo?
Partly. Raising brightness reveals detail that is there but dim; it cannot invent detail in areas that recorded as pure black. Increasing brightness also amplifies noise in the shadows.
What does saturation do?
It controls colour intensity. Zero is fully grayscale, values above 100% push colours towards vivid. Heavy saturation looks striking but pushes skin tones towards orange, so use it sparingly on portraits.
Are the adjustments applied to the full-size image?
