Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my photo appear sideways on some devices?
Cameras often store the photo in its sensor orientation and add an EXIF flag telling viewers to rotate it. Software that ignores the flag shows it sideways. Rotating here writes the correct orientation into the pixels themselves, so it looks right everywhere.
Does rotating by 90 degrees lose quality?
The pixel data is simply rearranged, so nothing is lost in the rotation itself. Re-encoding to JPEG does cost a little quality; choose PNG output or a high quality setting to avoid it.
What happens to the corners when I rotate by 45 degrees?
The canvas grows to fit the rotated rectangle, and the newly exposed triangles are filled with the background colour you pick — transparent for PNG and WebP, or a solid colour for JPEG.
Can I rotate several images at once?
Load them one after another. Each rotation is applied and downloaded individually, which keeps memory use low even for large photos on a phone.
Your image is read straight from your device by the browser and processed on a canvas in this page. It is never uploaded, stored or sent anywhere — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool still works.
