How many URLs can one sitemap hold?

50,000 URLs and 50 MB uncompressed. Beyond that you need several sitemaps referenced from a sitemap index, which this tool generates automatically.

Which URLs should I include?

Only canonical, indexable pages that return 200. Excluding redirects, noindexed pages, canonicalised duplicates and error pages keeps the signal clean.

Does a sitemap guarantee indexing?

No. It helps discovery, particularly for large sites and pages with few internal links. Whether a page gets indexed still depends on its quality and the site’s overall standing.
